The Periodic Table of Enterprise Risks (PTER) and its accompanying series of Periodic Risk Tables (PRTs) have been developed to help organisations better understand, assess and navigate an increasingly complex and interconnected risk landscape. The joint whitepaper reflects the shared commitment of IRM India, KPMG in India and Mahindra University to advancing risk literacy, strengthening organisational resilience and enhancing enterprise risk management capabilities across India and beyond.
Organisations today operate in an environment shaped by rapid technological disruption, geopolitical uncertainty, climate volatility, evolving regulation, supply chain fragility, cyber threats and shifting stakeholder expectations. As these forces become increasingly interconnected, traditional approaches that assess risks in isolation are no longer sufficient. The whitepaper responds to this challenge by introducing a structured and intuitive framework that organises enterprise risks into distinct risk families and risk groups. This enables organisations to develop a clearer view of individual risk exposures while also understanding the interdependencies, correlations and potential cascading effects between risks. By providing a common language and structured lens for examining enterprise risk, the PTER and PRTs aim to support more informed decision-making, strengthen risk conversations across organisations and help leaders build greater resilience in an increasingly uncertain world.
